Is this Irony?

How many posts have I began with an apology? Off the top of my head, I think 2....that's too many and I'm sorry. I hate that it's been this long but man, life has been so busy these past couple of weeks. So we'll play catch up.

As you know from 2 posts ago we got the house. We're so excited, this is great. It feels good that every month when we write that check, it actually goes towards something rather than flushing our money down the toilet. Renting was great, we've done it for so long. It's easy in, easy out, great locations small spaces, I mean come on. We've lived in some great places. But this feels different, now we actually get something from this and can finally do work. Since I'm the oldest child I was immediately awarded the dubious duty of assisting on every job that my father did on our house. So I've done everything from repair Lacrosse ball sized holes in walls, putting up wallpaper, fixing doors that were kicked in when locked out and many other jobs created by me or just necessary. Either way, I like this stuff and with the fact that the house is completely original from 1986, there is plenty to do.
As I write the date the house was built, I just remembered something interesting, maybe coincidence or Irony, I'm not really sure. But either way, a head scratching story. I've always had longer hair, for as long as I can remember my parents have given me a hard time about cutting my hair. Sometimes I get frustrated with it, and just cut it all off. One time, it was cut off for me. Freshman year in college I was subjected to a ritual that has long been celebrated in college sports, head shaving. Each senior chose a freshman and shaved whatever they wanted into their head. My senior decided that it would be funny to shave a year into my head. This was "hilarious" because for the next week everyone who saw that year on the back of my head, asked why it was there, what did it mean? I came up with some quick answer for some historic event that happened during that year. What makes this interesting you wonder? The number was 1986. Maybe it was amazing foreshadowing, maybe I'm just really bored sitting here by myself waiting for the water for my pasta to boil. Either way, it made me think.

Here are some pictures of the new house for you to enjoy. Wait till you see the changes that have been made already!

TAKE ME TO 1986
