After that, if I was going anywhere, I was Run-ing!

Today was the first day of what should be an interesting 4 1/2 months. I'll be running the San Diego Rock and Roll Marathon on Sunday May 31st. This will be my first attempt at doing something like this and also my first attempt at running for 26 straight miles. Can I do it? What will my time be? Will I run the whole time? Does Chris think I'm crazy? Will I actually survive it? How stupid am I?

All these questions should be answered over the coming months.....stay tuned for updates.

Tired from a long week

This week has been nuts, actually, so far this year has been nuts. We're still deep in the house hunt. Hopefully soon I can update this with some great news but until I have keys in hand, we're still hunting. Between the house stuff this week and the ASR trade show, I'm super tired. The show was a great time on Thursday and Friday. I got a lot done and it was good to see some old friends that we're excited to see that I was back in the industry. The best part of these trade shows are really the dinners that follow. On Friday night, DC shoes went big for us and we rallied for some sushi at NOBU. Talk about insane! If you haven't been there, I highly recommend going. Their sushi was incredible. Actually, everything that they brought out was fantastic. After 3 hours I headed out of there and onto the Belly Up for another great show from Ozomatli. We were treated to a nice surprise that they had their old singer Charlie 2una as a special guest. The show was really fun but I was definitely glad to get some sleep. Hopefully this week won't be so tiring........and seriously, I promise to start updating this more once things slow down.

Hope

Since Obama was sworn in today, I feel like it's a good time to put this up here. I still find it hilarious that this poster was made by the same guy who made this poster....

Do you think "Famous Poster Makers" will ever be the final Jeopardy question? If so, I'll be the farm!

One surf school I'll never attend

Australians are crazy! If you don't believe me, look at this article. This surf school owner saw the fin and continued to let his class learn to surf in the water. What's even more insane, is that the people learning didn't just get out of the water immediately when they noticed the 9 foot Great White.....who's more nuts in this scenario?

A Southern Californian Saturday

This weekend we had another visitor out to experience our SoCal life. Goody was out in L.A. for work this week so he braved the Friday afternoon traffic and drove down here for the weekend. It was a weekend full of everything great that our area has to offer. We started out Friday getting together at Tom and Kasey's place and playing Rock Band for a few hours. If you've never gotten to play, I'd highly recommend it! The best and hardest instrument is the drums but if you ask anyone who was there, my talent lies in the singing.
Saturday morning we planned to head out surfing early but the waves didn't cooperate. So we hung out at the house, then headed over to In 'N Out Burger for a little lunch. It's only my 2nd trip since moving there and now that I have an Iphone app that tells me the calories and fat from every fast food place I won't be going too often, but it's definitely really good. After Lunch we headed out surfing with Tom, Kasey, Chris and Greg. It was Goody's first time and for anyone who has ever tried, it's the most frustrating sport on your first day. 3 hours worth of paddling in circles, trying to get up on waves, and getting hit by boards, it was time to go. We headed back to our place to get changed then it was off to Wahoo's Fish Taco for California's 2nd best food chain. After a couple of Taco's we took went to The Comedy Store in La Jolla(Hoya). The first time we went it was really really funny. All the comedians killed and the crowd was really into it. This time was definitely not up to par. Only the headliner was really funny and the entire night the crowd just wasn't into it. It might have had something to do with the terrible jokes we were all subject to, but the comedian's would never admit that.
Talk about packing a lot of activity into a single day. I'm sure that he slept really well on the plane this morning because I know I took a helluva nap this afternoon. Here are some highlights.

Yours truly about to turn backside

You gotta tame the beast before you let it out of its cage

Some people are just photogenic.....others not so much. I guess that now we know there are two people from our house who definitely are, Me and Yeti. It feels good to have a 2nd male model living in the house, this way we can discuss all the important modeling topics. What to wear, how to cut our hair, should we shave today, where is the best spot to bite other dogs, should I eat Wilson's food, am I an ambi-turner, which fire hydrant should I pee on today?

Housing update

For everyone who's curious, here's a short housing update. We put in an offer on a place that we liked. Our offer was placed during the first part of my last post, luckily it was very early in the day. The house is located in a great spot, between the beach and the 5. Side bar here, now that we live in California, every road must now be prefaced by the article "THE" since according to anyone you talk to, driving in this state is the only thing equivalent to Dante's 7th circle of hell. Having grown up on the east coast and mainly in the DC area where we drove on "the" beltway, I take exception to Californians concept of traffic. Ok, sorry, back to the housing update. So we've found out that there is another offer on the house. We are waiting to hear what the seller decides before making any counter to the counter. I'll update when we find out......

Laser Rocket Arm

From my previous post you should now know two things, one that Jim Londos nick name was the "Golden Greek" and that my birthday was the 2nd. Well rather than forgetting my birthday like last year, Chris decided this was the year that she'd remember. I was pleasantly surprised when on my birthday I actually got a gift and even more surprised that it was 4 tickets to last weeks Charger/Colt playoff game. Now, if you've spent any time with Chris during football season you know of her feelings for Peyton Manning. I've never seen anyone back an add campaign like she backs the Mastercard ads that have Peyton in them. You would think that they were her idea with the way she laughs at them.
So on Saturday afternoon we piled into the car with Greg, Tom and Kasey(thanks for driving). We got into the parking lot quickly thanks to Greg's back way and quickly got down to business. Out came the Patron and the Bud Lights. It's amazing the taste I now have for good Tequila after spending the weekend in Mexico consuming plenty of bad Tequila. We spent a few hours in the parking lot, then headed into the game. This was far and away the best live sporting event I've ever been to. The scene in the stands was great, the game was awesome and somehow the Chargers beat the Colts in overtime despite Peyton being on their team. It was definitely a great way to turn 19!

Mmmmmmm....Tequila

Kasey, moving around way better after surgery, Thanks again for driving us!

It's my party and I'll cry if I want to!!

January 2nd was another momentous day in our history as a civilization. Many great things have happened on the 2nd day of the new year. From Georgia being the fourth state to ratify the constitution in 1788 to President Richard Nixon lowering the national speed limit to 55 MPH in order to conserve oil during an OPEC embargo in 1974. Many famous people celebrate this day as their birthday. From Jim Londos, to Jim Bakker, and ironically enough Cuba Gooding Jr. Now, I have to sidetrack here a little as to why Cuba Gooding Jr would be ironic for having his birthday on the 2nd. See, since we used to live in Park City(the home of Sundance) there are a lot of films and TV shows filmed there. One of the movies that was filmed in PC while we lived there as Daddy Day Camp starring the illustrious Cuba. Well, I guess that when the movies aren't filming at night the actors just head out on the town. One of those nights we ended up at Harry O's, a bar in town, while Cuba was out blowing off steam. We'll just say that he had a little too much to drink and ended up trying to "SHOW [the ladies] THE MONEY!!" It was about this time that his handler grabbed him, and got him out of there before he continued making an ass out of himself.......

But back to what all these events have in common. The 2nd day of the year was my 29th Birthday. This is a really anti-climactic birthday in the grand scheme of birthdays. It's backed up to the 30 which is a monster! I guess that people say that 30 is the new 20, which I guess means that I just turned 19. Now I guess Chris has to understand why I'm acting SOOOOOOO immature....

I'm so disappointed

Voting has finally closed and you've all voted Yeti as the favorite dog? Seriously? Yeti? For real? This is the dog that attacks harmless other dogs at any given time, the dog that does not and will not ever listen when being called, the dog that shed's on everything that will hold hair, the laziest dog ever! This is really your choice? I wish that I could tell where all the votes came from so I could call out everyone that voted for the Lion-hog by name!

It's been such a long time.....

I'd like to start out by apologizing to everyone who reads this thing on a daily basis. I've really been slacking lately. So my New Year's promise to all of you is find you all better websites to read during my breaks.....

That being said, it was a pretty wild trip home. We landed at Dulles on Wednesday and headed right to Chris' house. After arriving me spent the next hour eating some food and then it was off to church. I know what you're thinking, Church? For Christian? Well yes, at the holidays even I make to Church. Amazingly enough, I didn't get struck by lightning during the ceremony. Once we got home, I gave Chris a clinic on how to wrap gifts. Now, there are some things that I can do pretty well, there are some things I can do really well, and there then is wrapping. Honestly, I'm pretty sure if wrapping gifts were a sport, I'd be so far down the bench, the game would just be a rumor.

Christmas morning with my in-laws(funny to say, even funnier to write) was great. It was really fun to get spend the morning with our niece and nephew(It's been a while since Adam ran around declaring "Santa Came" at the top of his lungs).

Little Peter wearing my gift from Matt

Around 1 we headed off to my parents house for Christmas dinner. Interestingly enough, this years Christmas dinner looked much like Thanksgiving dinner. I'm always okay with that since I love Turkey and Stuffing(Ping).

Seen this before?

These cupcakes are much better than the ones we get in Cali

Aftermath of Christmas Dinner

Christmas had come and gone and we decided to celebrate the holiday by heading to our wedding photographers office and going through all 3000 photos from the wedding, rehearsal dinner, and brunch the next morning. I was planning to spend the rest of our trip at his office looking at these photos but was psyched to only spend around 2 hours there. It was amazing how quickly we were able to fill the album. I was dreading this "activity" but am still blown away by how quickly we got through it.

After 5 days of spending time with the families, it was time to head back to California and to pick up the dogs. Somehow we were only delayed for an hour total on both our legs of the trip. It was easy minus the "evasive action" we had to take on the landing when a recreational pilot decided to take a pleasure cruise through the landing pattern. Sorry for the super long post, I figured I would just try and cram the whole trip into one.
